Facelift, also known as facelift, is a procedure suitable for women and men over the age of 40 who have wrinkles and sagging in the facial area for various reasons. However, in some cases, face lift surgery can be performed on younger people. Whether facelift surgery can be performed depends on the general health conditions of the patient. In order for the surgery to be performed under general anesthesia, the patient must not have a condition that prevents him/her from receiving anesthesia.

Face lift surgery can be performed with local, sedation and general anesthesia. During the surgery, an incision is made at the temples and above the hairline. This incision is extended down from the front of the ear along the natural fold of the skin to prevent scars from being visible. Thus, the incisions will remain hidden within the skin folds. In this direction, the surgeon separates the tissues from the bone and proceeds according to the technique he adopts. Excess skin is then removed and, in some cases, it is possible to tone the lost muscle groups. After this application, the skin is repositioned and stitched properly. Face lift surgery normally takes 2-3 hours and it is possible to go home the same day.

After facelift surgery, patients generally have a comfortable early period. During the recovery period, swelling, bruising, numbness and a feeling of tension may be experienced. However, these side effects go away on their own within 3-5 days. After the surgery, a bandage is applied to the head area, leaving the eyes, nose and mouth open. In some cases, a drain may be placed to prevent blood accumulation inside. Drains are removed within 2 days at the latest. The bandage is removed after 2 days. Then, general control and dressing change are performed. Stitches are removed after 5-7 days.
