Otoplasty performed to improve the appearance of the ear is an aesthetic operation suitable for all ages. However, for the surgery to take place, the ears must grow to adult size. Otoplasty surgery, which means improving the shape of the ear, is performed under local or general anesthesia. The surgery, which takes approximately 1 hour, is performed by making a small incision behind the ears to avoid visible incision scars. During surgery, cartilage and skin may be removed by the doctor to reshape the ears. Then the required angle is given by reaching the cartilage. The ears are fixed symmetrically and in the correct position, and the incision is closed with aesthetic stitches. Since self-dissolving stitches are used during the surgery, there is no need to remove the stitches.

After otoplasty surgery, the ears are covered with a bandage by the doctor for protection. After ear aesthetic surgery, patients need to lie on their back to reduce the pressure on their ears. Although discomfort and itching may occur during the healing process after otoplasty, this is quite normal and temporary. Bandages are removed within a few days.
